Extension Privacy Policy

1. OVERVIEW

The BunkBar Chrome Extension is a utility designed to automate your attendance tracking setup. It scrapes your academic schedule from your LMS portal and generates a unique, temporary Import Code. By entering this code into the BunkBar app, your timetable is instantly imported without any manual data entry.

2. DATA WE COLLECT

The extension is designed with 'privacy-first' principles. It only accesses and scrapes data related to your academic schedule. This includes: Subject Names, Class Timings, and Days of the week. We explicitly DO NOT collect or store your LMS login credentials (passwords or usernames).

3. HOW WE COLLECT DATA

Data collection is strictly user-initiated. The extension only scans the DOM (document structure) of the LMS page when you are active on the specific portal sites and trigger the 'Import' process. It does not run in the background or monitor your browsing activity on other websites.

4. PERMISSIONS

To function correctly, the extension requires the 'activeTab' permission to read the contents of the LMS portal you have open. It also uses storage permissions to temporarily hold the scraped data before it is synced to your BunkBar account.

5. DATA USAGE & STORAGE

The scraped data is temporarily stored on our secure servers and linked to the unique Import Code generated by the extension. When you enter this code in the BunkBar app, the data is synced to your account. Unused codes and their associated data are automatically purged after a short period. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with third parties.

6. SECURITY

All transmissions between the extension and our servers are encrypted via HTTPS. Since we never touch your LMS credentials, your portal account remains secure and under your sole control.

7. USER CONTROL

You have full control over the import process. Data is only transferred when you explicitly generate a code and enter it into the BunkBar app. You can review and edit the imported details within the app before finalizing. Imported data can be deleted at any time from the app settings.
